How to optimize textile impregnation with HTV silicone: The CLP02-IPG02 closed-loop system
In the industrial manufacturing of technical ropes and braids, the application of fluid coatings such as HTV silicone is one of the most critical processes. Traditionally, this step has been managed through open-loop systems or manual control, leading to two main problems: inconsistent surface quality and high costs due to continuous material waste.
At TAIMU, we have analyzed this “bottleneck” and developed a comprehensive solution designed for Industry 4.0: the CLP02-IPG02 Impregnation System.
In this article, we break down the technical architecture of this equipment and how its closed-loop technology is transforming the performance of extrusion and braiding lines.
The problem of traditional impregnation
When a textile braid passes through an impregnation bath (IPG Unit), it drags a certain amount of fluid that varies depending on line speed, material tension, and above all, the liquid level in the bath itself.
If the level drops too much, the braid comes out “dry” or with un-coated spots. If the level is excessive, it generates an irregular coating and a constant spill of silicone. Maintaining that balance manually is practically impossible in high-speed productions.
The TAIMU solution: Dynamic Closed-Loop Control
The CLP02-IPG02 system eliminates dependence on the human factor by integrating an ecosystem of high-precision sensors and actuators.
Dual Laser Monitoring: We have installed two high-resolution laser sensors (S1 and S2) focused directly inside the impregnation bath. These sensors define the maximum and minimum working thresholds, reading the real fluid level at all times.
Smart Supply: When the S2 sensor detects that the level is approaching the minimum, the controller sends a signal to the main peristaltic pump.
Clean Peristaltic Pumping: Driven by a closed-loop stepper motor, the pump extracts the HTV silicone from the main tank and refills the bath exactly to the S1 level. Being a peristaltic system, the fluid never touches the internal mechanisms of the pump, guaranteeing total purity and drastically reducing maintenance downtime.
Plant Intelligence and Safety
Mechanics are nothing without good control. The “brain” of the CLP02-IPG02 is an intuitive touchscreen HMI (Human-Machine Interface) that gives absolute control to the operator:
Recipe Management: It allows storing more than 500 different configurations. If your plant changes the type of braid or the viscosity of the silicone, the operator only has to load the saved recipe and the system will adjust the pumping parameters automatically.
Active Safety: The stepper motor monitors torque in real time. If it detects a jam in the line or a lack of material in the tank, the system automatically stops production before the product or machine is damaged.
Visual Diagnostics: The integration of light beacons (status traffic light) allows plant supervisors to know the status of one or several machines at a glance.
Robust Manufacturing: CNC Machined Quality
At TAIMU we don’t just program software, we build hardware. We know that industrial environments are demanding. Therefore, the chassis and critical components of the CLP02 system (such as the optical and mechanical clamping blocks) are entirely machined from solid aluminum blocks using CNC technology.
This guarantees excellent thermal dissipation, perfect alignment of the laser sensors, and a durability that plastic or bent sheet metal simply cannot offer. All this in an extremely compact format of just 13 kg.
Scale your Production with TAIMU
The CLP02-IPG02 system is not just a machine; it is a quality standard. It is designed both to operate as an independent unit in a small workshop, and to integrate into multiple production batteries in large textile factories.
If your company is looking to reduce raw material waste, standardize the quality of your coatings, and automate critical processes, the TAIMU engineering team is ready to help you.
